%X Através de um exame integrado de produtos de sensores remotos, tais como imagens RBV-LANDSAT, imagens e mosaicos semicontrolados de radar (MISSÃO 96 da NASA e PROJETO RADAMBRASIL)e fotografias aéreas Ektachrome MS Aerographic e Ektachrome IR Aerographic (MISSÃO 96 DA NASA)foi possível a execução de um estudo comparativo do desempenho destes produtos na análise litológico-estrutural no Quadrilátero Ferrifero. A metodologia adotada consistiu basicamente na interpretação visual. Os produtos da fotointerpretação foram, então, comparados com dados bibliográficos e mapas geológicos disponíveis, ao que se seguiu uma investigação de campo. Verificou-se no geral um bom desempenho principalmente dos sistemas RBV e MSS-LANDSAT, os quais em termos de mapeamento geológico proporcionaram um nível de informações compatível com suas escalas de apresentação. Os demais produtos complementaram e permitiram, em alguns casos, até um refinamento dos dados. Como principais resultados tem-se a caracterização de certas feições, já a partir de produtos de pequena escala (imagens LANDSAT 1:500.000), algumas delas até então não registradas mesmo nos mapas mais detalhados da região, em 1:25.000. Dentre estas, destacam-se o Domo de Engenheiro Correia, o lineamento ao longo do Rio Piracicaba, alguns falhamentos, especialmente na borda oeste do Sinclinal da Moeda, bem como evidencias de ligação entre os quartzitos da Serra do Espinhaço com o Quadrilátero Ferrífero, através da Serra das Combotas. Destaca-se também aplicabilidade de alguns dos dados obtidos na prospecção de recursos minerais na região. ABSTRAT: Through the integrated analysis of remote sensing products, such as RBV-LANDSAT and MSS-LANDSAT imagery (channels 5, 6 and 7, in semicontrolled mosaics of radar airborne imagery (NASA Mission 96 and RADAMBRASIL Project) and aerial Ektachrome MS Aerographic and Ektachrome IR Aerographic photographs (NASA Mission 96), it has been developed a comparative study of the performance of these products in the lithologic-structural analysis of the Quadrilátero Ferrifero area (Minas Gerais State, Brazil). The adopted methodology consisted basically on visual interpretation, first of the small scale products (LANDSAT and radar imagery), and afterwards of the middle scale products (aerial photographs). The results obtained from photointerpretation were then compared to available geological maps and bibliography which was followed by a field investigation. RBV and MSS-LANDSAT imagery has demonstrated a good performance in geological mapping, with an information degree compatible to their scales of presentation. The other products complement or even improve those data. The main results of the study are the characterization of certain features beginning with small scale products (MSS-LANDSAT imagery at 1:500 000 scale), some of them insofar not recognized even in the more detailed maps of the region at 1:25 000 scale. Among these, the more outstandings are the Engenheiro Correia Dome, the lineament along the Piracicaba River, some faults, specially those of the western border of the Moeda Syncline, as well as the evidences of linking between the quartzites of the Serra do Espinhaço and Quadrilátero Ferrifero, through the Serra das Cambotas. Besides that, it was identified a great number of lineaments still need more detailed field work to be elucidated. The applicability of some of the acquired data to mineral prospecting in the area is also pointed out.
